Sommige Noren willen heel graag naar Nederland
Vandaag stellen wij graag een team uit het hoge noorden aan u voor: de Noren. Vanzelfsprekend zijn die van de partij op de European Life Goals Games in Utrecht. Een enkeling heeft er zoveel zin in dat solliciteren even wordt uitgesteld. Je zou maar een baantje hebben terwijl je naar Nederland kunt… We spraken met Rune Isegran, coördinator van de Vikingen.
“Dit evenement is een geweldige mogelijkheid voor ons. Het geeft het team een doel om naar toe te werken dit jaar. Iedereen wil erbij zijn, en iedereen wil in Nederland natuurlijk zijn beste beentje voor zetten. Hoe graag? Daarvoor citeer ik onze Danny: ‘Ik hoop dat ik nog werkloos ben in september, dan ik tenminste mee naar Nederland’. Geintje natuurlijk, maar het geeft wel hoe graag ze meedoen.
Het hele team ziet enorm uit naar de trip. Sommigen zijn al een tikkeltje nerveus aan het worden. Al onze spelers zijn geselecteerd uit mensen die meedoen aan lokale projecten van het Leger des Heils. De meesten zijn verslaafd geweest aan alcohol of drugs en hebben een afkickprogramma doorlopen. Anderen hebben te maken met moeilijke persoonlijke omstandigheden waar ze in onze speciale voetbalprogramma’s aan werken.
Wat dat betreft hebben ze aan coaches Cathrine en Jostein de beste voorbeelden. Beide voormalige spelers die dankzij ons straatvoetbalprogramma de motivatie vonden om af te kicken.”

The Norwegian female team
Some Norwegians really want to go to the Netherlands
Today we would like to introduce a team from the far north to you: the Norwegians. Self-evidently, they will be part of the European Life Goals Games in Utrecht. A few are so excited that applying for a job is even postponed for a while. Imagine having a job while you can also go to the Netherlands… We spoke with Rune Isegran, coordinator of the Vikings.
“This event is a great opportunity for us. It gives the team a goal to work towards to this year. Everyone wants to be there, and everyone in the Netherlands naturally wants to put their best foot forward. How eager? For that I quote our Danny: ‘I hope I’m still unemployed in September, then at least I’ll come to the Netherlands’. Just kidding, of course, but it does matter how eager they are to participate.
The whole team is really looking forward to the trip. Some are already getting a little nervous. All our players are selected from people who participate in local Salvation Army projects. Most have been addicted to alcohol or drugs and have gone through a drug addiction program. Others face difficult personal circumstances that they work on in our special football programs.
In that respect they have the best examples in coaches Cathrine and Jostein. Both former players who found the motivation to kick the habit thanks to our street football program.”
